The Code of Good Shooting Practice is produced by a wide range of oganisations in the UK responsible for live quarry shooting and wildlife management. It sets out what all believe to be best practice in game conservation, shoot management and the behaviour of participants.
The National Gamekeepers' Organisation is a full partner in the Code, has a seat on the steering group which investigates alleged breaches and expects all NGO members to follow the Code, both in the letter and spirit.
The Code is a voluntary standard rather than a set of legal requirements but anyone breaking it may expect to be reported to the sponsoring organisations, who will investigate allegations of abuse and seek corrective action.
The Code of Good Shooting Practice, now over 15-years old, is regularly reviewed and updated as required the latest 2017 version is now online
